Creed
A summary of the basic beliefs of the Catholic faith that tells us what Catholics believe about God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Prayer
Our way of communicating with God to praise, thank, ask for help, and spend time with Him, building a close and living friendship.
The Sacraments
Holy signs that give us God's grace; there are seven: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony.
The Ten Commandments
God's teachings that guide our moral life, teaching us to love God, love others, make good choices, and avoid sin.
Mother Francisca del Espíritu Santo de Fuentes
The first prioress for life of the Beaterio de Santa Catalina de Siena, born in Manila in 1647, who turned to prayer and service after being widowed early.
Beaterio de Santa Catalina de Siena
The religious institution formally inaugurated on July 26, 1696, where Mother Francisca served as the first prioress.
Dominican Third Order
The order Mother Francisca joined in 1682, taking the name Francisca del Espíritu Santo after a vision of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Dominic.
Saint Dominic
A man born in 1170 in Caleruega, Spain, who dedicated his life to preaching, service, and care for the poor, following a vision of Apostles Peter and Paul.
Order of Preachers
Commonly known as the Dominicans, this group was established by Saint Dominic and focused on preaching, teaching, serving, and guiding people in faith.
Dominican Motto
"To Praise, To Bless, and To Preach."
Revelation
God's way of making Himself known to humanity throughout history.
Definitive Revelation
Jesus Christ, because He is the fullness of God's revelation to humanity.
Son of God
A title for Jesus indicating He shares the divine nature of God the Father and is fully God and fully man.
Messiah
A term meaning the "Anointed One," referring to Jesus fulfilling God's plan and promises.
Savior
A title for Jesus because He saves humanity from sin and death and brings salvation.
Redeemer
A title for Jesus because He gave His life on the cross to free and restore humanity's relationship with God.
Calling or Vocation
God's invitation to a particular way of life.
Compassion
Concern and care for others who suffer.
Community
People supporting one another, helping one another, and living with love.
Service
Helping and serving others with humility.
