What are the four main types of tissue in the body?
Epithelial, Connective, Muscle, Nervous
What is the primary function of epithelial tissue?
Covers surfaces, lines cavities, protects, absorbs, and secretes
Name three examples of connective tissue.
Bone, cartilage, adipose (fat), blood, tendons/ligaments
What are the three types of muscle tissue?
Skeletal, cardiac, and smooth
Where do you find smooth muscle?
In the walls of internal organs such as the intestines and blood vessels
Which tissue transmits electrical impulses?
Nervous tissue
Which tissue regenerates well: epithelial or nervous?
Epithelial tissue regenerates well, while nervous tissue regenerates poorly
How does massage affect connective tissue?
It breaks down adhesions, improves flexibility, and boosts circulation
Which tissue type is found in the heart?
Cardiac muscle (involuntary, striated)
What is the main function of connective tissue?
To support, bind, protect, store energy, and transport substances
Where is nervous tissue found in the body?
In the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves
How does massage impact the nervous system?
It stimulates the parasympathetic response, promoting relaxation and pain relief
