Nation state

Sovereignty or soveriegn
a nation has the right and power to govern itself without another country controlling it.
Ex. Canada is sovereign because it makes its own laws, chooses its own government, and controls its own affairs.

stateless nation
A national group that does not have a state or land of its own (So their all around in other nations)
What is the biggest difference between nation and nation state?

-nation relates to the feelings and minds of people
-Nation state is a territory with internationally recognized boundaries and is politically organised.

Nationalists are very involved in their control, rather as patriotism is where you have a sense of positive recognition for your country, like you respect it as is.

-In the end British owned their land and forced the acadians to pledge their loyalty
-When they refused, British deported them (REFUSED BECAUSE THEIR ROOTS WERE IN THE FRENCH, didn’t want to fight against France)
this led to the “great deportation” they were displaced from their land
