Stages;
Sensorimotor; Preoperational; Concerete Operational; and Formal Operational
Sensorimotor Stage
Birth to age 2; Coordination of senses with motor responses, sensory cues around the world. Language is used for demands and cataloguing; Object permanence and language is developed during this stage
Preoperational Stage
2 to 6 or 7 years old; Symbolic thinking, use of proper syntax and Grammar to express concepts; imagination and intuition are strong, but complex abstract thoughts are still difficult; Pretend play, egocentrism, language development, and conservation is developed during this stage
Concrete Operational
From 7 to 11 years old; Thinking logically about concrete vents; grasping concrete analogies and performing arithmetical operations; Logical thinking is developed during this stage
Formal Operational
From 12 years old through adulthood; People begin to think logically about abstract concepts; Abstract logical, and potential for mature moral reasoning is developed during this stage
