Define Realism

belief that there is an external world and we experience the world through ‘openness ‘ and immediately without sense-data . World exists independently of the mind .

Define Idealism

belief that only minds and ideas exist , even if humans are not there to perceive something Berkley believes everything is in the mind of God

Sense-data

private mental representation of something , subjective , perceive the world through our own sense-data, temporary

What are immediate objects of perception

directly present to our mind in any act of perception

Define veridical

something which is true and match the facts

Primary qualities

characteristic of an object which is intrinsic or fundamental to the object itself

e.g. a triangle wouldn’t be a triangle without 3 sides

Secondary qualities

characteristics such as texture , smell , colour
