what is a reversible reaction?
a chemical reaction that can go backwards or foprwrad depending on the condition.
what does a double arroe mean?
it means the reaction can be reversed
what are hydrated salts ?
teh salts whose crystals contain combined water as part fo the structure .
what is the test for water?
add it in cobalt chloride or anhydrous copper sulfate as
copper sulfate wopuldf turn white to blue
cobalt chloride will turn blue to pink
is thermal decomposition of ammonium chloride reversible reaction ?
yes
What happens that makes ammonium chloride reversible reaction?
When solid ammonium chloride (NH₄Cl) is heated, it breaks apart (decomposes) into ammonia gas (NH₃) and hydrogen chloride gas (HCl).
That’s the forward reaction — decomposition.
But when those two gases cool down and meet again, they react to make solid ammonium chloride once more.
That’s the reverse reaction — recombination.
what is a closed system ?
a closed system is when the container is closed to prevent escaping of gases and maitain a equilibrium.
what is another name of chemicasl equilibrium?
dynamic equilibrium
what is a dynamic equilbrium?
Dynamic equilibrium is when a reversible reaction in a closed system happens both ways at the same time, and the rate of the forward reaction equals the rate of the reverse reaction, so the amounts (concentrations) of reactants and products stay constant.
what is the position of equilibrium?
he position of equilibrium shows how much product or reactant there is at equilibrium — it tells us which side the reaction is more towards.
what is le chatliersprinciple?
when a change is made to the conditions of a sustemk in dynamic equlibrium the sustem moves to oppose the change
wyhat ahppens when u increase the temp of reation?
What You Do | What the Reaction Does (Shifts Towards) | Why |
|---|
Increase temperature | Add heat 🔥 | Endothermic side | To absorb the extra heat |
what happens when u decrease the temp?
the reaction moves to endothermic side to produce more heat
what happens when u increase pressure?
the reaction shifts to side with fewer gas molecules to reduce pressure.
what happens when u decrease presssure?
it moves to side with more gas molevules
what happens when u increase concentration of reactants?
the reaction shifts to rifght side or forward side.
what happens when you incrtease the concentration of products ?
reaction sifts to left side oir backwards reaction.
when u decrease concentration?
When you decrease the concentration of a substance, the equilibrium shifts in the direction that produces more of that substance — to oppose the change
what effect does catalyst have on equilibrium of reaction?
none
what is contact proces?
it is the industrial manufactire of sulfuric acid using the raw materails sulfur and air.
what is haber proccess?
The Haber Process is an industrial process used to make ammonia (NH₃) by reacting nitrogen from the air with hydrogen from natural gas, under specific conditions using an iron catalyst.
what are the physical properties of ammonia?
its is a colourless gas
it has a distinctive smell
soluble in water
gives alkaline solution
what are the featires of nitrogen ?
nitrogen is a unreactive gas
it is very importamnt in plant growth
what is the first reaction?
N2 + 3H2= 2NH3(G)
