F- top of map…Settled border diputes between the U.S and Britian in Maine…about Great Lakes, settled peacefully avoiding conflict
Texas Annexation, 1845
G, Texas area of U.S present day….Fought their own war for independence. Texas was it’s own country for 9 years…entire territory used to be Mexico. Texas wins agaonst Mexico and Texas eventually waits to become a slave state apart of the U.S

Mexican Cession, 1848
I- california…New land=further tension over slavery. Mexican landowners become full citizens.. fought mexico in war to finish manifesting destiny and ended up getting lots of new land.
Gadsden Purchase, 1853
J- very small bottom left corner….Land is purchaced from mexico with the purpose of building railroad systems.. big railroad which is going to help us transport goods across country.
THESIS
Although manifest destiny caused a great amount of pollution, manifest destiny helped grow our economy, get new land, and make more money off of trade.
