Sinoatrial (SA) Node
The pacemaker of the heart. This is where the electrical signal arises in normal sinus rhythm (NSR)
Atrioventricular (AV) Node
The electrical signal speeds from the conduction tissue in the atria to this structure. This is where the electrical signal arises in nodal rhythm.
Purkinje Fibers
These fast-conducting fibers spread the electrical signal throughout the ventricular wall.
Atrioventricular (AV) bundle (Bundle of His)
Specialized conduction tissue in the interventricular septum; divides into the right and left branches. It is a bundle.
Right and Left Bundle Branches
These are bundles. Electrical signal that speads over the Purkinje fibers.
superior vena cava
A vein that is the second largest vein in the human body and returns blood to the right atrium of the heart from the upper half of the body.
aorta
Largest artery in the body
branches of right pulmonary artery
left pulmonary veins
bring oxygen-rich blood from the left lung to the left atrium
right atrium
Receives deoxygenated blood from the body
right coronary artery
right ventricle
pumps blood to the lungs
inferior vena cava
A vein that is the largest vein in the human body and returns blood to the right atrium of the heart from bodily parts below the diaphragm.
aortic arch
curve of the aorta
branches of left pulmonary artery
pulmonary trunk
carries blood from right ventricle to pulmonary arteries
left atrium
receives oxygenated blood from the lungs
great cardiac vein
Name this vein.
left ventricle
pumps oxygenated blood to the body
tricuspid valve
valve between the right atrium and the right ventricle
bicuspid valve
valve between the left atrium and the left ventricle.
aortic semilunar valve
located between the left ventricle and the aorta
apex
pulmonary semilunar valve
heart valve opening from the right ventricle to the pulmonary artery
auricle
thin covering over the right and left atrium
Myocardium
Thick middle muscle layer of the heart
epicardium
outer layer of the heart
endocardium
membrane lining the cavities of the heart
pulmonary circuit
Pumps blood to the lungs and back to the left side of the heart
systemic circuit
Circuit of blood that carries blood between the heart and the rest of the body.
