Cube Root

one of three equal factors of a number.

Exponential Equation

an equation in which the variables occur as exponents.

Index

In nth roots, the value that indicates to what root the value under the radicand is being taken.

Monomial

A number, a variable, or a product of a number and one or more variables.

Negative Exponent

An exponent that is a negative number.

Nth Root

if a^n=b for a positive integer n, then a is an nth root of b.

Perfect Cube

A rational number with a cube root that is a rational number.

Perfect Square

A rational number with a square root that is a rational number.

Principal Square Root

The nonnegative square root of a number.

Radical Expression

An expression that contains a radical symbol, such as a square root.

Radicand

The expression under a radical sign.

Rational Exponent

An exponent that is expressed as a fraction.

Square Root

One of two equal factors of a number.
