is the movement by people from one place to another with the intentions of settling temporarily or permanently in the new location.

a geographic area that is located outside towns and cities.
Urban sprawl
the expansion of human populations away from central urban areas resulting in the spreading of a city and its suburbs over more and more rural land.

is human migration within a country.
Urban renewal
is the process of redeveloping underused parts of a city to create new, modern buildings.
Urban decay
is the process whereby a previously functioning city, or part of a city, is neglected and not used.

person who moves from one place to another, often in order to find work or better living conditions.

Rural-urban migration
the movement of people from rural areas to cities, often for work or education.
CBD
Cenral Business District, the most established part of a city and often with businesses and high-rise buildings. Space is at a premium here.
Commerical areas
are generally located on very accessible road networks and are home to businesses, shops and malls.
Residential areas
are used for accommodation but also services and facilities for residents, such as schools and hospitals.
Industrial areas
are usually located close major transport links such as rail lines, ports and freeways, and are home to factories, warehouses and mills.
Rural-urban fringe
A zone of transition between the built-up area and the countryside, where there is often competition for land use. It is a zone of mixed land uses, from out of town shopping centres and golf courses to farmland and motorways.
Suburbanisation
is the process of developing new housing estates, further away from the Central Business District.
Decentralisation
is the process of encouraging the growth of regional and suburban economies by introducing more career and entrepreneurial opportunities to such areas.
