Democracy
from the greek “demos”, which means people and “kratos” which means rule is literally, the rule of the people.
Work
is defined as an activity in which one exerts strength or faculties to do or to perform something. An integral part of human life. It can be manual or intellectual, paid or unpaid.
Dignity of Work
The value of the human work and the basis for dignity of work rest on the person. It is the human person who gives dignity to work.
Objective dimension
the external aspect of work or the product or outcome of work
Subjective dimension
the value of human work does not depend on the output but on the agent or the worker – who is creative, intelligent, diligent, etc.
Rights of Workers
1) Right to Rest
2) Right to a Safe Workplace
3) Right to Association
Work Day
refers to any day during which an employee is regularly required to work.
Hours of Work
refers to the time an employee renders actual work. Regular work in a day is 8 hours.
Weekly Rest Day
a day off of 24 consecutive hours after 6 days of work
Right to a Safe Workplace
must provide an environment befittinga human person.
Right to Association
workers have the right to form or join an organizations called labor or trade unions.
SOCIAL JUSTICE
a political and philosophical concept that holds all people to have equal access to wealth, health, well-being, justice and opportunity.
2 AIMS OF SOCIAL JUSTICE TO EVERY CITIZEN
1. to receive whatever is due for him/her from society
2. to be an active contributor to the progress of the community
