Factorial ANOVA
A statistical method used to analyze differences in a dependent variable across two or more independent variables.
Univariate analysis
Analysis of variance involving one dependent variable.
Multivariate analysis
Analysis of variance involving more than one dependent variable.
Main effects
The individual effects of each factor in a factorial ANOVA.
Interaction effect
The combined effect of two or more factors in a factorial ANOVA.
2 x 2 Factorial ANOVA
An ANOVA design that involves two independent variables, each with two levels.
Null hypothesis
A statement suggesting that there is no effect or no difference, tested in statistical analysis.
Effect size
A quantitative measure of the magnitude of a phenomenon.
Dependent variable
The outcome variable that researchers are interested in measuring.
Independent variables
The variables that are manipulated in an experiment to observe their effect on dependent variables.
