Why is Muhammad important in Islam?
He revealed the Qur’an to humanity, he conquered Makkah, and the Night Journey.
How was the Qur’an revealed to humanity?
Muhammad grew up in Makkah where he would sometimes visit a cave in the mountains to meditate and pray, one time he went to the cave and experienced a revelation from the angel Jibril. He continued to receive revelations over the next 22 years, which were combined to form the Qur’an.
How did Muhammad conquer Makkah?
After the first revelation, Muhammad challenged people of Makkah to follow God’s teachings, but he was persecuted for his preaching and fled to Madinah. There he united the warring tribes and with their help conquered Makkah and converted it to Islam.
What was the Night Journey in Islam?
Before Muhammad fled to Madinah, angel Jibril took him on a miraculous journey to Jerusalem then into heaven where he spoke to prophets and saw great signs of God, agreed with God Muslims should pray five times a day.
What is the Imamate?
Leader of Shia Islam were descendants of Muhammad called Imams.
