Mathematical Model
A mathematical structure that represents a real-life situation (like a graph or table)
Numerical Model
A set of numbers or data normally in a list or table
Algebraic Model
An equation or formula
Graphical Model
Visual representation of a situation as a graph
Function
A function describes a relationship between an independent and dependent variable (each having exactly one output)
Independent Variable
the variable that changes on its own and will influence the other variable
Dependent Variable
The variable that happens as a result of the independent variable
Domain
all possible x-values (input)
Relevant Domain
Domain that fits the situation (normally limited)
Range
All the possible y-values (outputs)
Interval Notation
uses brackets (end points included) or parentheses (end point not included)
Inequality Notation
uses less than, greater than, less than or equal to, or greater than or equal to.
Function Notation
f(a)=b, where a is the input and b is the output. (To evaluate a function, find the output for a given input)
