These are geologic processes that take place at or near the Earth’s surface
Endogenic Processes
These are geological processes that occur beneath the Earth’s surface
Weathering
This refers to the processes that break up and corrode solid rocks, transforming them into sediments.
Physical Weathering
This is a process where it breaks large masses of rocks into smaller grains or chunks. It is also called disintegration.

The physical breaking up of rocks without any changes in their chemical composition.
Block Disintegration
A process of physical weathering that is caused by successive heating and cooling that causes the expansion and contraction of rocks.

This is a process of chemical weathering when carbon dioxides comes in contact with water, a chemical reaction takes place.

This is a process of chemical weathering that is the result of the absorption or combination of water and a particular substance on the rock, leading to a change in shape.

This is the disintegration of rocks caused by living organisms.

Tree roots can grow into joints and force them to open.
Animal Burrowing
Burrowing animals such as earthworms, grasshoppers, etc., push open cracks, and break rocks into fragments.
Humans
These play a very important role in the weathering of rocks. Provisions for agriculture and construction of houses and roads, among other, require large amounts of rocks to be broken down.
Mass Wasting
This is the movement of Earth materials down a slope. A mass of land slips from higher elevation to lower level.
Creep
This is a type of Mass Wasting that is the slow downhill movement of soil down a steep slope. This is likely to happen in areas with heavy rainfall, and It has a slow mass wasting.
Mud Flows
This is a type of Mass Wasting that occurs because of oversaturation of soil with water. This is a fast type.
Mud Flows
When soil becomes soaked in water, it behaves like a viscous liquid.
Landslide
This type of Mass Wasting involves the downslope movement of large block of weathered materials.

This type of Mass Wasting happens when large quantities of rock break off and move rapidly down the steep slopes. This can happen quite quickly.

This is the removal of soil at a greater rate than its replacement by natural agencies.
