Criminology
The entire body of knowledge regarding crime as a social phenomenon, including the making and breaking of laws and society's reaction to it.
Etiology
The study of the origin and causes of crime.
Sociological Criminology
The study of crime focused on the group of people and society as a whole, examining demographic and group variables in relation to crime.

An Act Creating the Board of Examiners for Criminologists in the Philippines.
R.A. 11131
An Act Regulating the Practice of Criminology Profession in the Philippines, repealing R.A. 6506, known as the Philippine Criminology Profession Act of 2018.
Registered Criminologist
A person who has graduated with a degree in Criminology and passed the examination to be registered by the Board of Examiners.
Criminalistics
A branch or division of criminology that deals with the application of scientific techniques to solve crimes.
Penology
The study of the control of crimes and the rehabilitation of offenders, dealing with punishment and jail management.
Sociology of Law
An investigation of the nature of criminal law and its administration.
Philippine Educators Association for Criminology Education (PEACE)
An organization created to professionalize criminology education in the Philippines.
