explain how convection works

1. particles near the heat source gain kinetic energy and spread out becoming less dense and rise

2. cooler particles are more dense and so sink to the bottom of the container, as this is happening hotter particles at the top lose their energy and cool down and the cool particles at the bottom will heat up

3. this process repeats creating a convection current

what is global cooling ( in terms of infrared radiation)

if infrared radiation is emitted from a planet at a greater rate than it is absorbed, the temperature of the planet will decrease

what is global warming ( in terms of infrared radiation)

if radiation is absorbed at a greater rate than it its emitted, the temperature of the planet will increase
