Balance of Payments (BOP)
A systematic record of all monetary transactions between one country and the rest of the world during a specific period.
BOP Account
The set of statements that detail a nation’s international receipts (credits) and payments (debits).
Credit Item
A transaction bringing money into the country; recorded with a positive sign in the BOP.
Debit Item
A transaction sending money out of the country; recorded with a negative sign in the BOP.
Current Account
Section of the BOP that records trade in goods and services, primary income, and secondary income.
Trade in Goods
Exports and imports of physical, tangible products across borders.
Exports (Goods)
Domestic goods sold abroad, generating an inflow of money and counted as a credit.

The final surplus or deficit after summing trade in goods, trade in services, income flows, and current transfers.
