Globally, tourism has increased with little real fluctuation. Bar a steep drop during and following effects of Covid, the rate of increase has also been rising. In 2024, it was just below pre-Covid levels.

In the 1990s, the tourism of WA countries together was much higher than Gambia, rising steadily.

In 2004, it dropped before climbing back up only to drop again in 2011.

Since then, it was steadily climbing up and Gambia’s number are matching closer, even surpassing the WA countries pre-Covid.
