Step 1
Measure 50 cm³ of 1 mol/dm³ HCL using one measuring cylinder then pour acid into 100cm³ conical flask
Step 2
Fit bung and delivery tube to top of the flask
Step 3
Half fill the trough or bowl with water
Step 4
Fill the other measuring cylinder with water and make sure it stays filled with water when you invert it into trough
Step 5
Add a single 3 cm strip of magnesium ribbon to the flask
Step 6
Put bung back into the flask quickly, and start the stop clock
Step 7
Record the volume of hydrogen gas given off at suitable intervals then repeat these steps using 1.5mol/dm³ HCL
