Current in a series circuit
Current is the same wherever you measure it.
Series circuit: If any of the parts are broken...
The circuit is incomplete, and no current will flow.
Voltage in a series circuit
Voltage across each component adds up to the voltage across the cells.
Voltage in a parallel circuit
Voltage stays the same in each branch of the circuit.
- Voltage across each branch is equal to the voltage across the cells.
State the law of current
The sum of the currents flowing into a junction equals the sum of the currents flowing out of a junction.
State the law of voltage
The sum of the voltages across each component, on the same branch, is equal to the battery voltage.
Series circuit: The more components you add in series...
The LOWER the current.
Current in a parallel circuit
Current is shared between branches.
- The current in each branch adds up to the total current in the circuit.
