Context in communication (there are six of these)
Family, friends and peer group, school and work, community, generational, and multicultural are the six contexts in communication
Family Context
Your communication depends on how your family acts and behaves with one another. For example, a family may be more formal, so the parents may be more stuck in their role as the adult, leading to a more strict household
Friendship and Peer Group Context
Interacting with someone in a more comfortable, intimate way. Many people can easily confide in their friends, but may be more hesitant to not tell them the truth when there is a misunderstanding. Also, you tend to treat friends with more respect
School and Work Context
Because other people have control over what happens to you and how much homework/work you have, you tend to act in a way that ensures that nothing unnecessary happens. This means acting respectfully and coming ready to learn or work
Community Context
You act respectful to your community and look out for one another. It creates a safer environment because everyone cares about what is happening to one another
Generational Context
In a generational context, you may act more respectful towards people older than you because they have experienced more. People in older generations may also not know how everything works in the current time, so people of younger generations can help them out and bridge that age gap
Multicultural Context
Interacting with someone that has a different culture than you involves making sure that you are patient, respectful, and sensitive to the fundamental differences
