What is epithelium
covers exterior body surfaces
covers internal closed cavities (vascular system- arteries vein capillaries)

Types of intercell junctions (5)
tight, adhering, men, hate, girls
(zonula occludens) tight: like a belt, muffin top, fuses adjacent cell membranes and prevents movement of materials between them
zonula adhering: anchor with actin filaments, and CAMs
Macula adherin: aka desmosomes, intermediate cytokerfilaments
hemidesmosomes: intermediate filaments, integrin proteins for tight adhesion to basal lamina
gap: help epithelial cells communicate and transport tings, have connexins to form pores

simple squamous, lines blood and lymphatic vessels (specialized)

epithelial lining of ventricles and heart aorta
What is mesothelium
lines walls of closed body cavities (abdominal, pericardial, pleural)
What is the difference, between microvilli, stereocilia, cilia
microvillia: increases surface area (non motile)
stereocilia: male repro organs and inner ear (non motile)
