supplied by the pharmacy daily with stock and unit-dose medications; some incorporate bar codes

enables the nurse to scan the patient's bracelet and medication for proper medication administration

Computerized provider order entry (CPOE)

a process by which a health care provider directly enters orders for patient care into the hospital information system
