Wireless Network
A data communication system that uses radio-frequency technology and electromagnetic (EM) waves to connect devices without physical cables.
Bandwidth
The amount of information that can be transmitted over a connection, usually measured in bits per second (bps).
Access Point
A device that connects wireless devices to a wireless or wired network and acts as a bridge between the wireless network and wired LAN.

Basic Service Set Identifier
The MAC address of an Access Point or base station that established a Basic Service Set (BSS).
Service Set Identifier
A unique identifier or network name assigned to a WLAN. Devices connecting to the same WLAN use the same SSID.
Hotspot
A place where a wireless network or Wi-Fi connection is available for public use.
Association
The process of connecting a wireless device to an Access Point.
Wi-Fi
A wireless local area network (WLAN) based on the IEEE 802.11 standard that allows devices to access a network within the range of an Access Point.
