An oral mode characterized by incorporation and receiving pleasure passively with minimal frustration.
Oral-Sadistic

Oral Fixations
Fixations originating from the oral phase that can lead to issues with dependency, oral aggression (sarcasm), or overeating.

A phase characterized by satisfaction from destroying or losing objects and aggressive behavior related to toilet training.

Anal Fixations
Fixations that can lead to anal-retentive (orderliness, stinginess, obstinacy) or anal-expulsive (messiness, generosity) traits.

Simple Oedipus Complex
In males, a condition characterized by sexual desire for the mother and rivalry with the father.
Complete Oedipus Complex
In males, a condition where bisexuality leads to ambivalence (affection and hostility towards both parents).
Castration Complex
In males, fear of losing the penis due to awareness of female anatomy and parental threats, leading to repression of Oedipal desires and superego formation via identification with the father.
Penis Envy
A component of the female Oedipus complex where girls envy male genitals and feel cheated.
Female Oedipus Complex
A complex involving desire for the father (to obtain a penis/baby as a substitute) and hostility toward the mother (blamed for lack of penis), resolved through identification with the mother.
"Anatomy is Destiny"
Freud's belief that biological differences heavily influence psychological development.
Latency Period
A period occurring approximately from ages 6-12 where sexual drives are dormant or repressed, and libido is sublimated into school, friendships, hobbies, and social activities.
Genital Period
The stage from puberty onward characterized by the reawakening of sexual drives, libido directed outward toward others, capability of reproduction, and genitals becoming the primary erogenous zone.
Maturity
The stage attained by ideally passing through earlier stages, characterized by a balance among id, ego, and superego, with a strong ego controlling impulses realistically.
