Data Types

Categories that classify data for better understanding and processing in analytics.

Quantitative Data

Numerical data that can be measured and expressed in terms of quantity.

Qualitative Data

Descriptive and non-numerical data representing categories or qualities.

Continuous Data

Data that can take infinitely many values within a range, including fractional values.

Discrete Data

Data that is counted and takes specific, distinct values, often whole numbers.

Nominal Scale

A scale of measurement where data are categorized without a numeric value.

Ordinal Scale

A scale of measurement where data can be placed in order based on a property.

Interval Data

Data measured along a scale with equal intervals, including a defined 0 point.

Ratio Data

Data that has all properties of interval data but also includes a true zero point.

Structured Data

Information that is highly organized, factual, and can be displayed in rows and columns.

Unstructured Data

Information that does not have a predefined structure and comes in various forms.

Independent Variable

The predictor variable that is manipulated in an analysis.

Dependent Variable

The criterion variable that is measured to assess the effect of the independent variable.

Data Analytics

The process of examining data sets to draw conclusions about the information they contain.

Statistical Analysis

A mathematical method to summarize data, identify patterns, and make inferences.

Categorization

The process of grouping data based on similar characteristics or properties.

Descriptive Techniques

Methods used to summarize or explain data through visualizations or counts.
