Max Central - Root:Canal

1:1

2
New cards

Max central - Pulp horn (newly erupted) + pulp chamber

  • 3 pulp horns.

  • Pulp chamber wider MD than BL

3
New cards

Max central - General anatomy

  • Root canal at CEJ triangular in young teeth, oval in older. Becomes more oval when it reaches apical foramen.

  • Multiple canals rare, lateral canals common.

  • Lingual shoulder present → removal for access of lingual wall of root canal.

  • Lingual shoulder prevents direct access to root canal, deflects files labially => Ledge/perforation.

4
New cards

Maxillary central - Outline & Root curvature

  • Root curvature: Straight (common), labial (less common) & distal (not common at all)

5
New cards

Max central - outline access

  • External access is rounded triangle w/ base towards incisal aspect.

  • Width of triangle determined bu distanse b/w M&D pulp horns.

  • Lingual shoulder removed = entire orific seen in access opening.

  • Ouline form changes to more oval shape as one gets older.

—> Die to M&D pulp horns less prominant.

6
New cards

Max Lateral

  • 1:1 (can have 2-3 canals → RARE)

  • No pulp horns present.

  • Pulp chamber wider MD than bl.

7
New cards

Max lateral - Cross section

  • CEJ shows pulp chamber centered in root.

  • Shaoe triangular, oval or round.

  • From CEJ pulp canal becomes round in midroot & apical areas.

  • Lingual shoulder of dentin removed b4 instrument can explore canal.

  • Root curvature (common to least common) → Distal, straight, distolingual.

8
New cards

Max Lateral - outline form

  • Rounded triangle/oval → depends on prominand of M&D pulp horns.

  • If M&D horns access outline is triangle, if not prominent = oval.

  • Pulp horns prominent: triangle shape compressed mesiodistallt kinda like centrals making slender triangle.

New cards

Max Canine - Overview

  • 1:1

  • Canals wider LL than MD.

  • NO PULP HORNS, small pointed incisal edge = single cusp.

  • Outline at CEJ oval.

  • Lingual shoulder present → prevents shaping/cleaning of root in ling. dimension.

  • Remains oval until reaching apical 3rd og root → constriction.

  • Oval shape = circumferentially file labially & palatally → shape & clean canal properly.

  • Buccal bone pver canine eminence → desinegrates

  • Fenestration is occasional finding.

  • IMPORTANT: Acute length determination.

New cards

Max canine - Outline form

  • Root curvature (common to least common): Distal, straight, labial.

  • Ext. axess out.form → oval (bcuz no M&D pulp horns).

  • MD width is determined by MD width of pulp cgamber.

  • Incisogingival dimen. det. by straight-line access factors & removal of lingual shoulder.

  • Incisal extention approaches within 2-3mm of incisal edge => straight line access.

  • Root curvature - labial/DL
