2. Present BE + -ing

🇬🇧 Le présent en -ING – Present Continuous 📌 Quand utilise-t-on le présent en -ING ? On utilise le présent en -ING pour parler : ▶️ d’une action qui est en train de se dérouler au moment où l’on parle. → I am watching TV. = Je suis en train de regarder la télévision. 📍 d’une situation temporaire, qui ne dure pas forcément longtemps. → She is staying in London this week. = Elle séjourne à Londres cette semaine. 📅 d’une action prévue dans un futur proche, lorsque l’organisation est déjà prévue. → We are visiting Dublin tomorrow. = Nous visitons Dublin demain. 📝 Comment le former ? Le présent en -ING se forme avec : SUJET + BE + VERBE-ING Le verbe BE change selon le sujet : I → AM → I am playing. You / We / They → ARE → They are playing. He / She / It → IS → She is playing. ✏️ Comment ajouter -ING ? En général, on ajoute simplement -ING au verbe : play → playing watch → watching read → reading ⚠️ Quelques changements sont possibles : write → writing : on enlève le e final. make → making : on enlève le e final. run → running : on double la consonne finale. ❌ À la forme négative On ajoute NOT après le verbe BE : I am not playing. She is not playing. They are not playing. On peut utiliser les formes contractées : is not → isn't are not → aren't → He isn't sleeping. → We aren't watching TV. ❓ Pour poser une question On place le verbe BE avant le sujet : Am + I + verbe-ING ? → Am I doing it correctly? Is + he / she / it + verbe-ING ? → Is she studying? Are + you / we / they + verbe-ING ? → Are they playing football? ⏰ Les mots souvent utilisés avec le présent en -ING now = maintenant right now = en ce moment at the moment = actuellement / en ce moment today = aujourd’hui this week = cette semaine Look! = Regarde ! Listen! = Écoute !

I (watch) a movie right now — I am watching a movie right now.

She (read) a book at the moment — She is reading a book at the moment.

They (play) football in the garden — They are playing football in the garden.

We (eat) dinner together tonight — We are eating dinner together tonight.

He (write) an email to his teacher — He is writing an email to his teacher.

You (listen) to music, aren't you? — You are listening to music, aren't you?

My sister (sleep) upstairs — My sister is sleeping upstairs.

The children (run) in the park — The children are running in the park.

I (not / study) history, I'm studying maths — I am not studying history, I'm studying maths.

It (rain) heavily outside — It is raining heavily outside.

We (not / work) today, it's Sunday — We are not working today, it's Sunday.
