Chirality
Molecules that are non-superimposable mirror images of each other.
Non-Superimposable
Mirror images that cannot overlap each other.
Stereogenic Center/Chiral Center
A point in a molecule that lacks a plane of symmetry and has four different substituents attached.
Pairs of Enantiomers
Pairs of isomers, like E and Z or cis and trans.
Racemic Mixture
An equal mixture of two enantiomers.
Polarimeter
Instrument that measures the rotation of light through a sample.
Chiral Substrates
Chiral molecules will interact with these differently than their counterpart.
