Programmed Decision
Simple routine matter for which a manager has an established decision rule
Nonprogrammed Decision
New complex decision that requires a creative solution

timely decision that meets a desired objective and is acceptable to individuals affected by it

Escalation of Commitment
Being overly committed to the wrong decision. Occurs: people dislike inconsistency, overly optimistic, illusion of control, sunk costs. Deal with it: split responsibility, closely monitor decision, provide a graceful exit, have groups make initial decision

Tendency to choose option that entail fewer risks and less uncertainty

Individuals preference for gathering information and evaluating alternatives
