Incomplete Dominance

3 different phenotypes, with the heterozygote being a blend of the other two (Ex; Pink carnations)

Co-Dominance

3 different phenotypes, with the heterozygote expressing both alleles simultaneously and equally (Ex; Roan horse)

Heterozygous Advantage

Heterozygotes have a better chance of survival than homozygotes usually against an infectious disease (Ex; Sickle cell resistant to malaria)

Multiple Alleles

More than two alleles for a single trait. Leads to many phone and genotypes.

Polygenic Expression

Many different genes interact to affect the trait; results in wide range of phenotype

Sex Linked Inheritance

Inheritance of traits differs between genders. Gene encoding the trait is always on X chromosome.

Linked Genes

Genes are very close together on the same chromosome. Almost always inherited together, the more close the more commonly seen together.

Environmental Impact

Different environmental conditions can turn on or off different sets of genes. Results in organisms w/ same genotype have diff phenotype
