Epithelial Tissue
Tissue that forms sheets covering and lining various body parts.
Connective Tissue
Provides structural and functional support, includes various types.
Matrix
The fluid material between cells that gives tissue its shape.
Simple Cuboidal Epithelium
Often specialized for secretory activity; cuboidal cells grouped into glands.
Stratified Transitional Epithelium
Found in areas that stretch, such as the urinary bladder; consists of multiple layers.
Adipose Tissue
Type of connective tissue specialized for lipid storage.
Skeletal Muscle Tissue
Striated muscle attached to bones, under voluntary control.
Cardiac Muscle Tissue
Striated muscle composing the heart wall, involuntary control.
Neurons
Conduction cells in nervous tissue responsible for transmitting impulses.
Inflammation
A response that reduces injury to tissues, characterized by redness, heat, swelling, and pain.
Pathogenesis
The pattern of development of a disease.
Etiology
The study of the factors that cause a disease.
Neoplasms
Abnormal growths of cells, classified as benign or malignant.
Prions
Pathogenic protein molecules that cause abnormal functions in proteins.
Pathogenic Organisms
Organisms that can cause disease, including viruses, bacteria, and parasites.
Vaccine
A preparation that stimulates the body’s immune response against diseases.
Cachexia
Syndrome including appetite loss, weight loss, and general weakness common in cancer patients.
