What is plate tectonics?
The theory that Earth's crust is broken into moving tectonic plates.

A large, rigid piece of Earth's crust and upper mantle.
What causes tectonic plates to move?

What are convection currents?
The movement of hot mantle rock rising, cooling, and sinking.

Because plates collide, separate, or slide past each other.
