Cytoplasm

Golgi Apparatus

Packages proteins for transport out of the cell

Rough ER

Synthesizes folds and packages proteins that the cell needs or plans to send outside.

Smooth ER

Synthesizes lipids and steroids, metabolizes carbohydrates and detoxifies harmful substances

Ribosomes

The site of protein synthesis.

Lysosomes

Digests excess or worn out cell parts, food particles, invading viruses or bacteria.

Vacuole

Provides temporary storage of food, enzymes and waste products

Vesicle

Small fluid sac that transports or stores materials inside a cell

Centriole

plays a critical role in helping cells divide by pulling chromosomes apart

Nucleus

Organelle that manages or controls all the cell functions in a eukaryotic cell

Nuclear Envelope

The membrane surrounding the nucleus that controls what goes In and out

Nucleolus

Name for the collection of DNA found in the nucleus of eukaryotic cells

Chloroplast

Contains chlorophyll, a green pigment that traps energy from sunlight

Cell wall

Firm/rigid protective structure that gives the cell its shape in plants and bacteria.
