South African Plateau
There is an extentive, high, flat - topped plateau which covers whole of central South Africa and only leaves parts of the west, east and south of the county and its elevation is about 1000m.
High Veld
Part of the South African plateau where the elevation is about 1200m to 2000m. It has the climate of temperate steppe/veld grasslands. It also has parts as high as 3000m. It slopes downward as it goes from east to west.
Low veld
The elevation of the plateau where it is only 600m. It has tropical climate.
Great Escarpment
The part of the plateau where is it steep and sharp. It is a wide semicircle and acts as the boundary between the plateau and the coastal plains and lowlands.
