Mean
Fair share or average of a data set.

Median
The middle value of a data set in ranked order.

Mode
Data that occurs most frequently in a set.

Range
The spread of a set of data.

Line Plot
A graph that shows data along a number line using symbols such as X to represent frequency.

Stem-and-Leaf Plot
A display that organizes numerical data by place value into stems and leaves.

Prime Number
Has exactly 2 different factors, 1 and itself.

Composite Number
Has factors other than 1 and itself.

Product
The answer to a multiplication problem.

Quotient
The answer to a division problem.

Factor
The numbers that multiply to a product.

Divisor
The number dividing another number.
Dividend
The number being divided.
Remainder
The amount left over when a number cannot be equally divided into another.
Expression
A representation of a quantity.

Equation
A mathematical sentence stating that two expressions are equal.

Mixed Number
A number written as a whole number and a fraction.

Sample Space
A list or diagram showing all possible outcomes of an event.

Numerator
The number of equal parts being considered in a fraction.

Denominator
The number of equal parts in the whole in a fraction.

Proper Fraction
Fraction less than 1 where the numerator is less than the denominator.

Improper Fraction
Fraction greater than or equal to 1 where the numerator is equal to or greater than the denominator.

Least Common Multiple
The smallest common multiple shared by two or more numbers.

Greatest Common Factor
The largest factor shared by two or more numbers.

Area
The number of square units needed to cover a surface or plane figure.

Perimeter
The measure of the path or distance around any plane figure in units.

Volume
The measure of capacity of a 3-D figure measured in cubic units.

Acute Angle
An angle measuring less than 90∘.

Obtuse Angle
An angle measuring greater than 90∘.

Right Angle
An angle measuring exactly 90∘.

Straight Angle
An angle measuring exactly 180∘.

Acute Triangle
A triangle in which all angles are less than 90∘.

Obtuse Triangle
A triangle in which one angle is greater than 90∘.

Right Triangle
A triangle in which one angle is exactly 90∘.

Equilateral Triangle
A triangle where all 3 sides are equal.

Scalene Triangle
A triangle where all 3 sides are not equal.

Isosceles Triangle
A triangle where 2 sides are equal.

Variable Expression
An expression that contains numbers, operations, and variables.
