roanoke colony they attempted (and failed) to colonize. in 1607, they finally established jamestown in virigina. things went wrong, disease, starve, and fights with powhatan.

sparked religious revival, their emotional preaching, faith, and spirituality came emphasized and brought colonies together. this helped lay groundwork for revolutionary unity

navigation acts
required colonial trade to go through england but salutary neglect dismissed this
indentured servants
did much of the work by by the late 1600s, enslaved africans replaced servants as the main labour source
