Lymph nodes, spleen, lungs, liver

Engulf and digest

pathogens, damaged cells, general debris e.g. dust in lungs

Phagocytosis

Move towards pathogen - chemical products act as attractants
Engulf pathogen, enclosing in a phagosome
Lysosome moves towards & fuses with phagosome to form phagolysosome
Lysozymes hydrolyse the pathogen into soluble material
Absorbed into cytoplasm/ released from cell
Antigen presentation in the case of macrophages
