What are the two divisions in abdominal lymph nodes
Abdominal lymph nodes are divided into two groups
1) Pre-aortic lymph nodes
→ located centrally and drains organs supplied by the unpaired branches of the aorta
→ the unpaired branches include the celiac, SMA, and IMA
2) Para-aortic lymph nodes
→ drains the organs supplied by the paired branches of the aorta
→ the paired branches that supply the viscera are the middle suprarenal, renal, and gonadal arteries
What are the Pre Aortic Nodes?
Drain GI viscera located at origin of arteries, draining parallel to blood supply
→ celiac nodes - foregut
→ SM nodes - midgut
→ IM nodes - hindgut
Where do the Pre-aortic nodes enter into
Nodes will deposit into the thoracic duct for delivery to the left venous angle
