An investigator must be able to read a scene and conceptualize the events that took place in order to understand how or why a crime occurred and gather critical evidence to the investigation. An investigator must also procceed with caution in order to protect the saftey of others involved and preserve the evidence at the scene. This can have a major effect on the way the crime scene is analyzed. Applying inclulsiveness refers to the impoartance of obtaining all evidence, whether or not it be relevant to the case, because the evidence could either prove or rule out certain facts in a case. Lastly, maintaining documentation occurs throughout the entire case. This includes many different types or forms/entries which can be used to organize evidence, events, testimonies, timelines, etc to provide to the case.
