Product Rule
The rule used when multiplying powers with the same base, as demonstrated in the calculation x4×x5=x9.
Area of a rectangle
The measure obtained by multiplying the length by the width (Arectangle=length×width).
Box Method
A visual method used to find the product of binomials like (x+4)(x+3) by organizing the individual products into a grid.
FOIL Method
A technique for expanding binomials by calculating the product of the First terms, Outer terms, Inner terms, and Last terms.
Square of a Binomial
A special product pattern following (x+6)2=x2+2(x)(6)+62=x2+12x+36, which requires including the middle term (2ab).
Difference of Two Squares
An algebraic identity where (a+b)(a−b)=a2−b2, characterized by the middle terms canceling each other out.
Mean
A measure of central tendency calculated by summing all values and dividing by the total count, though it can be greatly affected by extreme scores.
Median
The middle value of an ordered data set that is not affected by extreme values and is often a better representative of the typical score.
Mode
The value or values that appear most frequently in a data set.
Extreme Scores (Outliers)
Values that are unusually high or low compared to the rest of the data, such as 40, 106, or 14, which make the mean less representative.
Bimodal
A property of a data set that has two modes, such as the reading habits survey which has modes of 2 and 4.
