Molarity
The most common unit of concentration for chemists, defined as the number of moles of solute in liters of solution.
Dilution
The addition of solvent to decrease the concentration of solute.
Dilution Factor
The ratio of the initial and final solution volumes (Vc / Vd), indicating to what extent a solution has been diluted.
Strong Electrolytes
Substances that ionize completely when dissolved in water.
Weak Electrolytes
Substances that are only partly ionized in water.
Nonelectrolytes
Substances that do not produce ions when dissolved in water.
Concentration
A measure of how much solute is in a given volume of solvent or solution.
Electrolyte
A substance that produces an electrically conducting solution when dissolved in a polar solvent.
