Strabismus / squint
A condition otherwise where there is a misalignment of the eyes.
Esotropia
A manifest inward turning of the eye.
Exotropia
A manifest outward turning of the eye.
Hypotropia
A downward turning of the eye.
Hypertropia
Anward turning of the eye (upward turning).
The Hirschberg test
Also known as the corneal light reflex test, it is a quick and simple way to check ocular alignment.
Esophoria
A latent inward turning of the eye.
Exophoria
A latent outward turning of the eye.
Cover-uncover Test
A diagnostic test used to detect Esophoria and Exophoria.
Amblyopia
Often called lazy eye, this condition occurs if either eye is not stimulated adequately during the first 6 years of age while high level vision is developing.
