Quantitative Research
The systematic, empirical investigation of observable phenomena via statistical and mathematical techniques in natural and social sciences.
Value of Research (Gutierrez, 2020)
Improves the quality of life from conventional to modern, makes life richer and more meaningful, and helps augment income and alleviate poverty.
Quantitative Research Emphasis
Focuses on proof rather than discovery, making it widely used in disciplines such as Medicine, Dentistry, Education, and Sports.
Quantitative Behavioral Sciences
Explores factors influencing human and animal behavior through systematic observation and experimentation, often exploring how one behavior is related to others.
Quantitative Anthropology
The scientific study of humans, their behavior, and societies in the past, including species like Australopithecus afarensis and Homo sapiens.
Quantitative Sports and Physical Education
Involves using numerical data to analyze and understand athletic performance, training methods, and the impact of sports on individuals and communities.
Quantitative Medicine
In medical education, this tends to be predominantly observational research based on survey or correlational studies.
Quantitative Science and Technology
Considers the noted observation for a phenomenon, the rate of processing of devices, and time consumed for procedures to ensure more responsible operation.
Quantitative Business
Utilized in product development and marketing campaigns by analyzing data such as market size, demographics, and user-preferences.
Quasi-Experiments
A research design used in education that contains elements of a true experiment but where participants are not assigned randomly to treatment and control groups.
Qualitative Reading Inventory (QRI-5)
A tool by Leslie and Caldwell (2011) used to evaluate reading performance categorized under frustration levels such as poor comprehension and slow reading speed.
Quantitative Psychology
The scientific study of the human mind and behavior providing tools for rigorous, data-driven understanding, such as intelligence testing (MBTI, IQ, Multiple Intelligences).
Frustration Level (Reading Performance)
A classification indicated by difficulty in decoding, word recognition, miscues, slow reading speed, and poor comprehension among respondents.
