Alliteration
the occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words.

Conflict (3 kinds)
Character vs self, character vs society, character vs character, character vs character
Irony 3 kinds
(l) VERBAL IRONY (figure of speech): the speaker says something different from what she/he means;
(2) IRONY OF SITUATION (plot device): a character's choices bring about results contrary to the one intended;
(3) DRAMATIC IRONY (characterizing device): a difference between what the speaker says and the author
means. (The speaker is not aware of the irony of her/his words.)
round and flat characters
Flat characters are two-dimensional in that they are relatively uncomplicated and do not change throughout the course of a work. By contrast, round characters are complex and undergo development, sometimes sufficiently to surprise the reader.
Protagonist vs. Antagonist
Protagonist is the main character in fiction or drama. It is the person who we focus our attention on, the person who sets the plot in motion. It can be the hero.
Antagonist is the character or force that blocks the protagonist. It is not always but often the villain in the story.

Mood
Feeling or atmosphere that a writer creates for the reader
