What are neurons?

Cells that transmit info through body via electrical and chemical signals

What are two possible functions of neurons

Possible answers: Receiving sensory input, sending motor commands, relaying electrical signals, thinking, feeling, doing, memory formation

What do motor neurons do

transmit signals from brain to muscle, allowing movement and speech

What do sensory neurons do

receive stimuli and transmit information regarding it as electrical signals to CNS

integrate info from motor and sensory neurons and convey it to the CNS

what is a neurotransmitter

chemical messengers that neurons release to affect across a synapse

where are neurotransmitters stored

regulates mood, apetite and sleep

what does dopamine do

supports movement, motivation and is the reward system in the body

what does cortisol do

Regulates reaction to stress, preps fight or flight

helps with establishing and maintaining social bonds, learning, memory and generating emotions
