Anton Drexler sets up the DAP (German Worker’s Party) in Munich

Hitler joins the DAP as the 55th member and the 7th member of the leadership committee

Hitler becomes in charge of the party propaganda + active speaker

Hitler & Drexler write the 25 Point Plan outline the DAP’s beliefs (both nationalist & socialist)
June 1921
Hitler resigned after leader wanted to merge with German Socialist Party (rival)

Hitler is made party leader

SA is formed of ex soldiers. Acted as a private army protecting the party and broke up opponent party meetings. Appealed to angry young men.
8th November 1923
Hitler & SA storm beer hall with Bavarian Government officials and forced when to make him leader. Ludendorff lets leaders go home.
9th November 1923
Hitler storms Munich with 1000 SA troops and 2000 supporters - met with army police and soldiers. 14 Nazis were killed.
11th November 1923
Hitler is arrested and awaits trial

Hitler changes the DAP to the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nazi Party) and adopted the swastika as their emblem
1924
Hitler is put on trial and uses it to publicise the Nazi Party and gaining public sympathy. Sentenced to 5 years.

Hitler write Mein Kampf whilst at Landsberg Prison and changes his political strategy

Hitler is released from jail after 9 months
