Performance Management

Cascading Goals
A practice that aligns goals across organizational levels—from Organization to Team to Employee—to clarify how each person contributes.
Results Measures
A performance monitoring category focused on what was achieved, including sales, quality, and deadlines.
Behaviors Measures
A performance monitoring category focused on how work was done, including teamwork, service, and safety.
Development Measures
A performance monitoring category focused on what capability is growing, such as new skills and responsibilities.
SBI Feedback Model
A feedback framework consisting of Situation (when and where it happened), Behavior (what the person did), and Impact (what result it created).
Halo Effect

Recency Bias

Leniency or Severity

A framework for setting effective goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.
Strategic Planning
Long-term directional planning conducted by top managers that answers 'Why?'
Tactical Planning
Planning conducted by middle managers that focuses on 'What?' resources and priorities are required.
Operational Planning
Planning conducted by frontline managers that focuses on 'How?' daily work and measures are executed.
Managerial Decision Process
A six-step decision-making model consisting of: 1) Recognize (Define the decision), 2) Generate (Create alternatives), 3) Analyze (Use evidence and criteria), 4) Select (Choose the best option), 5) Implement (Assign actions and resources), and 6) Evaluate (Assess effectiveness).
