Forward reaction
Reactants convert to products (Q < K)
Reverse reaction
Products convert back into reactants (Q > K)
Reaction rate
The speed at which reactants are converted to products in a chemical reaction.
Equilibrium
A state in a chemical reaction where the forward and reverse reaction rates are equal, leading to a constant concentration of reactants and products. (when Q = K)
Equilibrium Constant (K)
Ratio of products to reactants AT equilibrium
Reaction Quotient (Q)
Ratio of products to reactants at any point in the reaction
Le Chatelier’s Principle
If an external change is applied to a system at equilibrium, the system will adjust to counteract the change and restore equilibrium
Boyle’s Law
Pressure is inversely proportional to volume when temperature is constant (P₁V₁ = P₂V₂)
